Ground preparations involve works to create good conditions for the next generation of trees.
Following clearfelling to prepare sites for restocking, lop and top is commonly burnt in situ. Stumps are normally left but some owners prefer to mulch them level. Whilst more costly the mulching makes for much easier and cheaper future vegetation control. On a mulched site weakened bracken will be further controlled by Asulox applications leaving a good see bed for natural regeneration or planting.
